A cab driver was injured after losing control of her vehicle in Stuyvesant Town on Tuesday.
The cab ended up on the lawn outside 521 East 14th Street after it took down about two car lengths of the chicken wire fence along the grass outside the building.
The driver was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition after the accident was reported at 11:30 a.m., according to the FDNY. The department didn’t have details on the nature of the victim’s injuries.
A Stuy Town resident who was on her way to the Associated Supermarket happened to walk by as the property’s public safety officers were helping the woman, who appeared to be in her 50s, out of the cab. The resident, who asked that her name not be published, said she was told the woman had a seizure.
The cab, its front badly damaged, was later towed off the lawn and moved onto the 14th Street Loop Road.
Video footage on the Citizen app shows the cab, its hood popped open, next to the building, as a worker uses a saw on fencing near a rear wheel and emergency responders hover nearby.
